Leeds striker is in contention for a starting spot against Wigan.

Marcelo Bielsa the head coach

Leeds play their fourth game of the season this weekend, and already a big decision is upon manager Marcelo Bielsa.

New signing Eddie Nketiah has thrown his name into the mix to start against Wigan Athletic this weekend after a successful debut against Salford City.

Nketiah was clinical in the 3-0 win, dispatching a simple chance and impressing with his movement and link up play.

Already the loanee is challenging for Patrick Bamford’s spot.

Bamford looked pretty good himself in the season opener, a 3-1 win over Bristol City.

But against Nottingham Forest he drew a blank as Leeds were held 1-1.

Bamford did score in his last game against Wigan, a game in April where the Latics surged to a surprise 2-1 win, to take the Whites’ promotion hopes off track.

This is a decision which Bielsa will have to manage all season long.

Both Bamford and Nketiah have cases. Bamford is the first choice forward, and dropping him could hurt his confidence.

At the same time, Nketiah has a bit of momentum after midweek and could relish the chance to build on this with another start.

The likely decision is for Leeds to continue with Bamford, but if Bielsa goes for Nketiah it will be a huge call.
