Stuart Dallas has plummeted down the Leeds pecking order under Thomas Christiansen.
It has been a difficult season for Leeds United winger Stuart Dallas. The left footer will have been watching his place in the Leeds side slip out of his grasp, without being able to do anything about it.
The 26-year-old has suffered numerous injuries, most recently while on duty with the Northern Ireland national team during their 2018 World Cup play-off against Switzerland.
Former Brentford ace Dallas was already ousted out of the starting line-up following Thomas Christiansen’s appointment as manager, with Samu Saiz and Gjanni Alioski taking his place after joining the club this summer.
Pablo Hernandez has also been used out wide this season as Christiansen looks to avoid dropping the Spaniard, but remains unable to play him in his preferred number 10 role due to the form of Saiz.
It has seen Dallas limited to just two Championship starts, coming on as a substitute in 11 other league games in which he has scored twice against Birmingham City and Sunderland.
Now, the injury will not have helped Dallas’ chances of first-team football, especially since the emergence of Swedish ace Pawel Cibicki in the last two matches.
A £1.5million signing from Malmo in the summer, Cibicki came on against QPR to supply an assist before doing exactly the same against Norwich City on the weekend to set up fellow countryman Pontus Jansson in a 1-0 win at Elland Road.
With three years remaining on his current deal, Dallas should consider a loan move during the second half of the season in order to prove to Christiansen what he is capable of elsewhere in order to boost his chances of starting in the 2018-19 campaign.
