Crystal Palace should consider a move for Dominic Solanke if Liverpool make him available on loan for next season.
If Liverpool decide to loan out Dominic Solanke next season, Crystal Palace might be a club who could benefit from taking the striker back down to London.
Solanke left Chelsea to sign with the Merseysiders last summer, with the promise of greater first-team opportunities, appearing 21 times in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp this season. But, given the devastating form of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, just three of those were starts, with his first goal for the club coming on the final day of the season against Brighton.
While his situation certainty improved from that at Stamford Bridge, a loan could be an option next term with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard already making enquiries into his availability for next season, as reported by the Mirror.
While Gerrard’s legacy on the red half of Merseyside would certainly aid his efforts to bring Solanke north of the border, Liverpool could decide a move to another Premier League team is far more beneficial.
Given the right platform and service, Solanke can have the opportunity to prove he can live up to the immense potential shown during his rise through the Chelsea academy. At Palace, he would have both those things.
Eagles manager Roy Hodgson will undoubtedly be looking to add more firepower to his side given Christian Benteke’s troubled campaign and, at a glance, Solanke has something to offer Palace, with a potentially compelling understanding with Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend to be had.
In the same way Palace provided Ruben Loftus-Cheek with the stage to prove himself this term, Solanke could thrive if the same opportunity should present itself this summer.
