Celtic and Southampton appear to be amongst the sides challenging for Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts.
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Southampton are looking to rival Celtic for Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts this summer, and the report suggests that despite his connections to the Hoops, he may struggle to turn down a loan switch to a Premier League side if the chance presented itself.
And if that proves to be the case and the Saints do ultimately win the race for the former Fulham man, the Hoops should arguably look to target a player whose opportunities would probably be even more restricted by Roberts arriving at St Mary’s.

Josh Sims has only made a handful of appearances for Southampton during his professional career, but has shown plenty of potential when he has been given a chance.
That talent should surely tempt Mauricio Pellegrino to consider letting Sims leave on loan if Roberts does come in to ensure that his career does not stagnate, and the Hoops should consider being the ones to make a move if he does become available.
Having shone from time to time when he has been given a chance in the first-team, he could certainly make an impact for the Bhoys as they look to maintain their domestic dominance.
And by playing in a team that often enjoys the overwhelming favourites tag, Sims would get the opportunities to perfect his game ready for his return to St Mary’s where he would look to fill the void that Roberts may leave behind following his return to the Etihad Stadium.
