Chelsea youngster Izzy Brown is on Huddersfield’s radar following a brilliant loan spell
A report from the Daily Mirror has suggested that Huddersfield Town plan to target signing Chelsea starlet Izzy Brown on a permanent deal this summer if they are promoted out of the Championship, with a fee of £3 million likely to be enough to tempt the Blues into selling.
With potentially such a low fee required, Celtic would surely be wise to target the 20-year-old if the Terriers miss out on promotion, and should arguably be waiting in the wings to make a move even if David Wagner’s men do go up.
The Hoops could have to prepare for life without Patrick Roberts this summer if they are unable to extend his loan deal from Manchester City, while The Sun recently reported that Moussa Dembele could be sold if the right bid comes in.
Though Brown is a fairly un-established name currently, he would arrive at Parkhead having done something that both Roberts and Dembele had previously done, make a name for himself in the Championship.
Brown has been brilliant on loan with Huddersfield, and even shone in a previous spell with hapless Rotherham earlier in the season, so a deal would arguably be less of a gamble than a move for Chelsea teammate Dominic Solanke – who is on Celtic’s radar (via Daily Record) – would be.

In total, he has scored eight league goals and has contributed five assists and boasts the kind of versatility that would allow Brendan Rodgers to deploy him in any attacking area, whether that be out on the wing replacing Roberts, or even up front occasionally if Dembele does move on.
And with Scott Sinclair’s form proving how far a fee of around £3 million can go – the winger arrived for £3.5 million last summer (via BBC Sport) and has since gone on to top the Scottish Premiership goalscoring charts – a move for Brown would surely prove to be a brilliant piece of business from the Hoops this summer.
