With the Liverpool Echo reporting that Liverpool have rejected Celtic’s approach for Harry Wilson, Brendan Rodgers may want to consider pursuing another of the youngsters pushing through the ranks at Anfield.

The Echo reports that the Hoops wanted to sign Wilson in some capacity but Jurgen Klopp’s plans to use him next season led to the Merseyside outfit rejecting the bids for the 20-year-old.

While Wilson is seemingly set to stay put, perhaps Celtic should consider targeting one of his teammates this summer as they look to replace Patrick Roberts at the end of his loan.

Ryan Kent is another exciting talent trying to make the grade with Liverpool, and it may not be out of the question to suggest that there is more scope for a potential deal than there was with Wilson, with the Daily Mail reporting back in April that while Klopp is a fan of the academy graduate, the path in front of him to the first-team is perhaps too congested.

Kent has impressed during loan spells with Coventry and Barnsley in recent times, and would undoubtedly thrive playing in the Scottish Premiership with the Hoops, especially as a move to Parkhead will give him the chance to potentially feature in the Champions League.

The Sun recently suggested that Kent is keen to sign a new contract at Anfield, so perhaps another loan deal would suit all parties.

Liverpool only need to look at Patrick Roberts’ impact in Scotland to know that temporarily moving north of the border can be an excellent step for a player’s development, especially if Wilson’s greater involvement in the first-team leaves Kent with an even tougher task trying to break into Klopp’s side.
