Should Celtic renew an interest in the 31-year-old if he’s available?

It seems quite a long time ago now, but this time last year Celtic were being linked with Martin Caceres.
According to The Sun, Celtic were interested in the Uruguay international, who was a free agent at the time.
The 31-year-old wound up joining Verona, and then Lazio in January and although the latter have an option to extend his contract, he could be a free agent again in a matter of weeks.
If Lazio snub him, should Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers renew an interest?

Caceres’s performance in this afternoon’s 1-0 win over Egpyt in the World Cup ought to illustrate that he could be a major player in the Scottish Premiership and Rodgers should seriously consider him.
After all, the Northern Irishman could do with a centre-back this summer and signing up the former Barcelona star – who has also had spells with Juventus and Sevilla – might be the best addition of all – and it seems viable.
Realistically, if Lazio were desperate to keep him then they would have activated the clause already, which means that other clubs have a chance of nicking him.
Failing to stay at Lazio, combined with a solid World Cup, would result in plenty of interest, but he might be impressed by the Hoops’ previous interest and therefore it’s hard to rule out a move to Parkhead.
