Celtic and Rangers are linked with some of the same players this summer.

John McGinn and Glen Kamara have both been linked with the Old Firm sides this month and it’s a good sign for Rangers that they are reportedly keen on the same talent that Brendan Rodgers wants at Celtic.

For Gers boss Steven Gerrard, bridging the gap to the Hoops’ quality is of paramount importance next season, while Rodgers, who has delivered back-to-back trebles in his two years at Parkhead, will be desperate to extend the gulf from here on in.

Both managers could do with a winger this summer, and should the duo look at their former Liverpool colleague Sergi Canos?

Rodgers brought the Spaniard to Anfield at the age of 16, but Canos, now 21, left the Reds in 2016 to join Norwich City, before sealing a £2.5 million move to Brentford [Get West London] 18 months ago.

However, 13 of his 30 Championship appearances last season came from the bench, indicating that he isn’t quite an established figure in the Championship yet, though he could be a fearsome prospect in the Scottish Premiership.

30-year-old Daniel Candeias is Rangers’ only right-wing option and although he’s a very good one, he will still need competition, while Celtic will need a replacement for Patrick Roberts after his return to parent club Manchester City.

Rodgers obviously spotted something in him when signing Canos from Barcelona. He may not have developed as Rodgers expected, but just because he isn’t a top player for the Reds doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t be a top player North of the border.
