According to The Liverpool Echo, the Liverpool winger, signed by Rodgers for £20 million in 2014, is likely to be offloaded this summer after making just 19 Premier League appearances.
The report adds that the Reds will have to accept a “fraction” of their initial outlay and if it makes financial sense for the Hoops, Rodgers should sanction a bid.
At 24, Markovic, who has spent time with Hull City and Anderlecht during the past 18 months, has hardly fulfilled his undoubted potential, but he is still young enough to salvage his career.
Total Sportek claims that he earns around £35,000 per week but, considering he’s out of contract next summer, a wage cut is inevitable if he wants to be playing regularly at his next club.
Rodgers is a fantastic man-manager and maybe, just maybe, he could get the best out of the Serbian attacker before it’s too late.
