With question marks over his Everton career, Celtic should take look at James McCarthy.

According to The Mirror, there are ‘question marks’ over James McCarthy’s future at Everton – and Celtic should look at signing him in January.
The Liverpool Echo reported this week that Everton are interested in Tanguy Ndombele – an arrival which could really threaten McCarthy at Goodison Park.
The Republic of Ireland international returned to action for the Toffees’ Under-23 side last month following a nine-month absence through injury, but he is yet to make Marco Silva’s squad for a senior game.
If his future looks bleak on Merseyside, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers should make the call.
The Hoops missed out on John McGinn following the summer debacle which saw him join Aston Villa instead, but Rodgers still needs a long-term Scott Brown replacement.
Not only does the 28-year-old fit the bill, but he is a better, more accomplished midfielder than McGinn and the Northern Irish manager should really consider him.
According to Transfermarkt, McCarthy is valued at around £7 million by the Premier League side but, with his contract up in 18 months and place in the squad under threat, Everton may let him go for less.
Would he be up for the move to Parkhead? Very possibly, because McCarthy said in 2014 [The Irish Independent] that it was his ‘dream’ to play for the Bhoys, having been released at the age of 14.
Fitness permitting, he is a fine player and one who could take over the mantle from Brown – who turns 34 in June – eventually.
