Should Celtic consider signing West Ham United’s Cheikhou Kouyate as a long-term Scott Brown replacement?

West Ham United fans slated Cheikhou Kouyate for his performance in Sunday’s drubbing by Manchester City. Fans of the East London side called on their club to get rid of him this summer and it could be a distinct possibility.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been horrendously inconsistent this season and if he is made available by the Irons then should Celtic consider snapping him up?
Kouyate joined West Ham in 2014 but Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers – then at Liverpool – was among those interested in signing the Senegalese powerhouse [Liverpool Echo].
The Hoops have Scott Brown, who has just had another brilliant season and could captain the Scottish giants to a back-to-back treble this month, but he turns 33 in June and it’s time that Rodgers starts to think about a long-term replacement for the iconic midfielder.

Kouyate does not turn 29 until December and he could beef up Celtic’s midfield alongside Brown in the Champions League next season. Rodgers’s side were dominated in midfield in the group stages of the competition this season, leading to some comprehensive defeats, and a solid, experienced figure such as the Sam Allardyce signing could do the trick.
Kouyate, worth over £11 million according to Transfermarkt, probably isn’t good enough for another Premier League side if West Ham allow him to leave, which means a spell to Parkhead isn’t all that unlikely if they’re competing with Championship sides for his signature.
