Celtic are facing increased competition for Dundee’s Jack Hendry, with the Scottish Sun reporting that Crystal Palace have now joined the race for the defender’s signature.

Palace’s Premier League rivals Bournemouth are also known to be interested in Hendry, who has impressed in Scotland this season following a summer switch from Wigan Athletic.

The Cherries are preparing a £1m offer for the 22-year-old, but with his current club not wanting to sell then they require at least £1.5m to be convinced.

This is a price that the Hoops are unwilling to pay, meaning that if the Eagles stump up the cash then they could swoop in for a player the Glasgow outfit have been tracking for months.

While many will praise the reigning Scottish champions for not buckling in the transfer market and technically they would be paying 50 percent more for Hendry, is it really worth missing out on the centre-back for an extra £500,000?

It is believed manager Brendan Rodgers is still looking for support at the back with new signing Marvin Compper having already been sidelined with injury before kicking a ball for his new team.
