Celtic need additions out wide after Daniel Arzani suffered a knee injury.
Sky Sports have reported that Chelsea will listen to loan offers for teenage starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window – and that should spark Celtic into action.
The 18-year-old has failed to break into Maurizio Sarri’s senior side despite the odd appearance here and there, and will reportedly be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan.
But Brendan Rodgers should convince his former side Chelsea to let the England youth international head north of the border, with Patrick Roberts stating that he will remain with Spanish side Girona until the end of the season.
It had been rumoured that the Manchester City star would return to The Etihad in January as he struggles for minutes in La Liga, with Celtic likely to become interested if he was to be available once again.
However, Roberts stated that he wants to fight for his place at Girona, leaving Celtic with the need to bring in additions out wide as Daniel Arzani has been ruled out until the end of the season with a long-term knee injury.
The likes of Jonny Hayes, Lewis Morgan and Mikey Johnston are not considered starters by Rodgers, while Scott Sinclair is yet to replicate the kind of form that saw him win the Player of the Season award in 2016-17.
Additions out wide are required, and Hudson-Odoi would be the perfect January signing for Celtic in their bid to win a third consecutive treble. However, Chelsea may be cautious to send him to Scotland after the failure of Charly Musonda.
The Belgian failed at Celtic, ending his 18-month loan just a third way of the way through the deal. Convincing Chelsea that Hudson-Odoi would fare better and landing him on loan would be an excellent bit of business.
