Celtic broke their transfer record on a £9 million deal [The Scotsman] for striker Odsonne Edouard on Friday. It’s a good move by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, but now the priority must be bringing a winger to Parkhead.

The Hoops have a number of wide players, but with Scott Sinclair going off the boil last season, and Charly Musonda and Patrick Roberts returning to their parent clubs, it’s an area that Rodgers must strengthen.

According to The Daily Mail’s Live Transfer Blog [16/06/2018, 13:32], Stoke City are interested in Bournemouth’s Jordon Ibe.

The Northern Irishman manager, who managed Ibe at Liverpool, once described the 22-year-old as ‘exceptional’ [The Star] and if he’s on the move then the Bhoys should be interested – especially if he’s going to a Championship club.

The Scottish Premiership isn’t as competitive as the Championship, but Rodgers, and later Gerrard’s appointment at Rangers, has changed the landscape in Scotland and it’s clearly a much more appealing destination now than it was a few years ago.

Plus, Celtic can probably offer the former Liverpool winger – who joined Bournemouth for £15 million in 2016 – Champions League football, something he has never experienced before and something which Stoke can’t dangle in front of him as bait.

At 22, Ibe is only going to get a lot better and it would be intriguing to see how he would develop under his former manager in Glasgow.
