Should Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths start against Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers this weekend, like Hibernian manager Neil Lennon suggests?

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will have a major team selection decision to make against Graeme Murty’s Rangers this weekend.

With both Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths fit for the Scottish Cup semi-final tie at Hampden Park, Rodgers will have to decide which striker to include in his starting lineup against the Gers.

According to Neil Lennon, who masterminded a 2-1 shock win for Hibernian at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership in February, it should be Griffiths who starts against Rangers, not Dembele.

Following the Hoops’ 2-1 away victory over Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership this past Sunday in which the Scotland international striker scored the winner, former Celtic manager Lennon, now in charge of Hibernian, said on BT Sport 1 (2:39pm, Sunday, April 8, 2018): “I would go with Griff. I think he is a brilliant goalscorer. He has a good record against Rangers, as has Moussa Dembele.

“I just like the wee man. I just think that he has something special about him. He is aways a threat, plays on the shoulder, and he is a great goalscorer. He likes Hampden as well.”

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Hibernian at Celtic Park Stadium on September 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Griffiths is back to full fitness, and his recent form means that he will be keen on starting against Rangers and scoring.

Moreover, the 27-year-old striker, who has been on the books of Celtic since January 2014 when he joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers in England for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £1 million, needs just two more goals to bring his tally for the Hoops to 100.

That will be huge motivation for Griffiths, who relishes playing against Rangers and knows how to handle the pressure of playing in an Old Firm derby.
