Do Celtic really need Marvin Compper?

Celtic finalised the sale of Erik Sviatchenko on Monday.
The centre-back has re-joined Midtjylland after spending the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at the Danish club, from whom he was signed by Ronny Deila in 2016.
And should Marvin Compper follow him through the exit at Celtic?
Compper, a £1 million signing in January, has made only one appearance under Brendan Rodgers after struggling for form and fitness during his six-month stay in Glasgow so far.

The German centre-back turns 33 in July and it seems plausible that the Hoops should try and get rid of him in favour of another experienced defender who they can actually rely on.
Even if Compper hadn’t struggled with injury, he is still somewhat an unproven quantity among Rodgers’s side. The Northern Irish manager could wait for him to get fit, but they’ll be waiting for a 33-year-old whose best days are surely behind him.
With Dedryck Boyata, Jozo Simunovic, Jack Hendry and Kristoffer Ajer, the Bhoys have more than enough centre-backs at the moment and even if linked-away Boyata or Simunovic leave, is Rodgers really going to rely on Compper instead of signing a replacement?
