The Sunderland defender would be a useful addition to the Burnley squad.
A report from the Northern Echo this morning claims that the Black Cats could sell Lamine Kone in January, if owner Ellis Short fails to sell the club before the opening of the winter transfer window.
The 28-year-old centre-back has struggled at times during his spell with Sunderland, but still possesses plenty of quality, and there with surely be a plethora of clubs interested in obtaining his signature, if he is indeed allowed to leave the Stadium of Light.
One club in particular who should consider a move for the Ivory Coast international is Burnley, with Sean Dyche desperately in need of another centre-back, after allowing Michael Keane to join Everton in the summer.
Kone joined Sunderland for £6 million in January 2016, and any kind of offer in that region would surely be enough to tempt the struggling Wearside outfit into selling.
The 6ft 1in centre-back is physically strong, and powerful in the air. He is also extremely quick along the ground.
The former Lorient man is experienced in playing at the very highest level, and would be an excellent addition to the Clarets’ squad.
And if Dyche does manage to bring the Ivorian to Turf Moor in January, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Burnley.
