The Moroccan could be a useful addition to Bristol City’s squad this summer.

Robins boss Lee Johnson spoke to reporters following his side’s impressive 3-1 victory over Barnsley at Aston Gate today, and insisted that he is still actively looking to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of this month, as quoted by the Bristol Post.

The 36-year-old Bristol City gaffer went on to outline his intention to specifically target attack-minded players, as quoted by the Bristol Post:

“We’re hoping to bring in one or two if possible on Monday or Tuesday. If we can’t by Monday or Tuesday then we’ll draw a line under those players and try and move on. We definitely need to try and bring in at least one attack minded player.”

The problem for City, however, is that they have to operate on a far inferior budget to the rest of the division, so Johnson will have to be extremely smart in his player recruitment, and with this in mind, he should consider a move for Ismail Aissati, who is available on a free transfer.

The talented Moroccan can play anywhere along the front-line, and his direct style of play could help add a certain level of potency to the Robins’ attacking setup.

The 28-year-old has been capped twice by the Morocco national team, and has plenty of experience in playing at the very highest level in Europe, during spells with teams such as PSV Eindhoven and Ajax.

It could take a while for Aissati to be brought up to speed with the intense nature of the Championship, but his availability on a free means that Johnson should not hesitate in taking a punt on bringing him to Ashton Gate this summer.
