The Aston Villa man is reportedly wanted by Sunderland, but he would be ideal for Bristol City.
Robins boss Lee Johnson has a lot of work to do at Ashton Gate over the coming weeks, if he is to build a squad capable of enjoying a successful campaign in the Championship this season.
One particular area where he will want to address is his forward department, and the signing of an established striker will be of paramount importance to his side’s hopes of improving upon last term’s 17th placed finish.
And with this in mind, Bristol City should consider a move for Villa flop Ross McCormack, who has been attracting interest from Sunderland this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Despite the Scot’s struggles since moving to Villa Park last summer, he still possesses undoubted quality at Championship level, and if given the opportunity of regular action at Aston Gate, he could prove to be a real asset for Johnson’s men.
The 30-year-old boasts an impressive goalscoring CV, having notched 120 strikes in the Championship since moving to England from Scotland in 2008.
He would bring a certain level of know-how and nouse to the Bristol City side, and would undoubtedly add a more potent feel to their attacking play.
The former Leeds United and Fulham hitman does still have three years remaining on his current deal at Villa, however, so he will command some kind of transfer fee.
With Steve Bruce quite clearly not a fan of McCormack though, he shouldn’t prove to be too costly, and if Johnson manages to bring him to Aston Gate this summer, it could tun out to be a signing of real significance for the Robins.
