The Norwich City striker would be a fantastic addition for Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.

Brighton manager Chris HughtonBrighton manager Chris Hughton

Chris Hughton has performed magnificently in his role as Seagulls boss since his appointment in December 2014, but he now arguably faces his toughest challenge to date, as he attempts to guide his side to a successful Premier League campaign next term.

Brighton have plenty of solid players amongst their squad, but one quality that Hughton will undoubtedly want to add to his ranks is experience.

In addition to this, the south coast outfit could also do with some more firepower in forward areas, even with the likes of Glenn Murray, Sam Baldock and Tomer Hemed amongst the Seagulls squad.

With this in mind, Brighton should make a move for Canaries forward Steven Naismith, who has been linked with an exit form Carrow Road over this past month.

Despite the 30-year-old insisting that he is happy at Norwich (BBC Sport) the pull of the Premier League for someone plying their trade in the Championship can often be hard to resist.

Naismith can play pretty much anywhere along the front-line, and would add a certain level of nouse to Brighton’s attacking play.

He would be best deployed in behind the lone striker, and if Hughton opts to play his favoured 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1, the Scotland international could strike up an interesting partnership with Murray, spearheading the Seagulls’ attack.

The former Everton man is still under contract for another two years at Carrow Road, so Brighton will have to offer a considerable amount to tempt the Canaries into selling, but with their superior current standing in the game, they should easily be able to stretch to the East Anglian outfit’s valuation of Naismith.
