Glasgow Rangers have already made one bid to bring Connor Goldson to Ibrox, and are reportedly preparing another offer.

It would certainly appear that Steven Gerrard is determined to have Connor Goldson be a part of his Rangers side once he takes over at Ibrox in the coming days, with the Gers putting a seven-figure bid on the table for the centre-back.

It appears that it may be difficult for the Seagulls to talk Goldson out of a move, with The Argus reporting earlier this week that the Liverpool-supporting ace would find the chance to link up with Gerrard at Ibrox ‘irresistible’ despite Brighton’s desire to keep him in their ranks after a season where he predominantly played the role of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy’s understudy.
Rangers undoubtedly need to strengthen their defensive options in the summer after a turbulent year for the Gers, so perhaps it may be little surprise if the Light Blues’ hierarchy are determined to be relentless in their pursuit of Goldson while they sense that there is a potential chance to get something done.
The longer the speculation continues, the more unsettling it may prove to be, so perhaps Chris Hughton should look to be proactive and offer a solution that may benefit all parties.

Ben White is a superb talent on the Seagulls’ books who looks destined for the first-team in the future – though he is slightly further down the pecking order than Goldson having spent the season out on loan. The Sun reported in February that both Tottenham and Liverpool were keen on him before his contract situation was resolved.
Brighton are ready to loan White out, according to The Argus, and that should perhaps tempt the Premier League side to offer Rangers the chance to take White for the season instead, perhaps before Goldson’s situation becomes a talking point once again next summer. Brighton would surely struggle to stand in his way in a year if he gets a similar of game-time next season.
The Gers may not be landing their first-choice target, but they would be getting a very talented defender for a year who will not have cost the club anything in transfer fees.
It may not be the ideal result for Gerrard, but perhaps it is a suggestion that Hughton should put forward as the club fear that they may be struggling to hold onto Goldson.
