Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers wants a centre-back in January and will come up against the in-demand Kara Mbodji in the Champions League.

Kara Mbodji didn’t exactly cover himself in glory as his Anderlecht side were swept aside by Celtic in the Champions League back in September.
The centre-back was far from his best against the Scottish champions, coming off the bench before deflecting a Patrick Roberts shot past his own goalkeeper just six minutes later. A second goal for Celtic set them on their way to a comfortable 3-0 win at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium.
Though with Celtic on the lookout for a new defender in the January transfer window, per the Scottish Sun, should Brendan Rodgers overlook Mbodji’s game-changing mistake and focus instead on the defender’s many qualities?

Mbodji is arguably the stand-out defender in Belgian football at the moment and Celtic have history when it comes to keeping an eye on the Jupiler League. Per the Scottish Sun, they were the first side to make a bid for that little-known KAS Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru all the way back in January.
And while Mbodji is a little older than the usual Celtic transfer target, he boasts the leadership, physicality and European experience that would make him an excellent signing for Brendan Rodgers side.

Turkish Football reported last week that Anderlecht could be convinced to sell Mbodji in January and there is no shortage of interest. Newcastle, Leicester, Swansea, Brighton and Crystal Palace are all understood to be interested in the 49-cap Senegal international.
Rodgers, however, should use Celtic’s Parkhead clash with Anderlecht in December as an opportunity to take a look at a player who could solve his problem position.
