Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers should really consider signing the 30-year-old speedster.

The January transfer window isn’t far off now and you would hope that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has a shortlist of potential signings drawn up.

Celtic had a less-than-flattering summer window, in which they failed to sign a number of their reported targets.

But January is a chance to put things right – and one name who should be on the list is Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer.

Dyer, a Premier League winner with Leicester in 2016, might be available for transfer in the coming months after being exiled by the Championship club, with Wales Online reporting this week that he remains ‘out of the picture’.

The jet-heeled winger, who turns 31 later this month, still has plenty to offer a Scottish team, hence why Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reportedly wanted him at Ibrox a number of months ago [The Sun].

Gerrard ultimately brought Eros Grezda to Rangers, so it seems unlikely that the 38-year-old will be renewing an interest in Dyer.

Plus, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who managed him in South Wales, really needs another wide option after Daniel Arzani was ruled out for the season.

That leaves Lewis Morgan and Jonny Hayes as the prospective players to replace him in the short team, but one isn’t ready and the other hasn’t re-produced his Aberdeen form since joining the Hoops in 2017.

Dyer, with his experience and talent, would be a magnificent signing, but time will tell whether Rodgers wants him in Glasgow.
