Middlesbrough have shown interest in Ryan Kent but should they instead target Liverpool teammate Ben Woodburn?

Middlesbrough are one of three Championship clubs keeping an eye on Liverpool winger Ryan Kent with a view to signing him on loan in the January transfer window.

Page 54 of Monday’s (December 18) printed edition of the Mirror claims that Fulham and Leeds United are the other two sides from England’s second tier interested in Kent.

The 21-year-old is currently in the middle of a season-long loan at Freiburg, but having struggled to make much impact in Germany it is believed the Reds could recall the youngster in the new year.

However, should a report from the Daily Mail claiming the Merseyside club are now ready to loan out fellow starlet Ben Woodburn see Boro turn their attention elsewhere?

After summer interest Jurgen Klopp decided to keep Woodburn at Anfield, but is now ready to let him leave on a temporary deal with the Championship the 18-year-old’s most likely destination.

Despite being three years Kent’s junior the teenager is arguably a more talented and rounded player and could really inject Garry Monk’s faltering side with some much needed energy in attack.
