Boro are hoping to land Saville initially on loan but with the view of making it a permanent move for a £7m fee in January – but there are still complications.
Lions manager Neil Harris is working with a small squad and will need to replace the 25-year-old, identifying Ryan Leonard of Sheffield United as a potential candidate.
The Blades themselves are interested in Marvin Johnson, who is currently at the Riverside, but time is running out to make this triumvirate of deals work for all three clubs.

Therefore perhaps Tony Pulis should be looking at other alternatives if the move for Saville falls through and the ideal choice could have been made available by Leicester City.
