West Ham are languishing in the Premier League relegation zone a quarter of the way through the season while Birmingham find themselves in the Championship drop zone.

Harry Redknapp paid the price for his part in the Blues’ poor start to the season and was replaced with Steve Cotterill.

Slaven Bilic has suffered the same fate now following the Hammers’ dreadful 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool last time out.

Bilic’s sacking also saw the Croatian’s coaching assistants leave the East Londoners with former Birmingham player Julian Dicks among them.

Dicks started his career at Birmingham and played over 90 games for Blues over three years before a £300,000 move to West Ham.

He went on to make over 260 appearances for the East Londoners over two spells scoring 50 goals before being recruited by Bilic when he replaced Sam Allardyce in 2015.

Dicks worked with some top players during his time at West Ham including the likes of Dimitri Payet and knows Birmingham well so should Cotterill consider bringing in the man known as the Terminator to help kickstart Blues’ season.

A fresh face on the training pitch and his history with the club could work well while he will take no prisoners either.

Cotterill has his players in during the international break pledging to work them hard following the 2-0 defeat to Barnsley last time out, as reported by The Birmingham Mail.

He could do a lot worse than bring in someone of Dicks’s experience to help get a reaction from his squad and kickstart the season.
