Speaking on his podcast, Glenn Hoddle has claimed that West Ham’s David Moyes should be spoken about as a potential Manager of the Year candidate.

The 2020/21 Premier League season is over, and as we reflect on the campaign, there are a number of managers who deserve praise for the jobs they have done.

Pep Guardiola has won another league title, Brendan Rodgers almost got Leicester into the top four, while Jurgen Klopp managed to get Liverpool into third, despite an injury-ravaged campaign.

However, amid all those fantastic names, Hoddle believes that Moyes deserves a lot of credit for what he’s done.

“There’s all different ways of judging a manager’s work. Look at Tuchel, he came in halfway through the season and they finish in the top four, they’re in a Champions League final and they’re runners-up in the FA Cup. My word, that is some feat,” Hoddle said.

“There’s all sorts of managers we could talk about, David Moyes is another that should be talked about for what he’s done at West Ham, but yeah, I’ll go for Pep Guardiola.”

Hoddle is absolutely right about Moyes.

The Scot isn’t the most fashionable manager in the Premier League, but he’s done a fantastic job this season by securing West Ham a Europa League spot.

In the end, injuries caught up with West Ham and they can count themselves a little unlucky to not be in the top four, but after narrowly avoiding relegation last term, they can be proud of what they’ve achieved this year.

Hoddle says that Guardiola should be the Manager of the Year, and we tend to agree, but Moyes certainly deserves an honourable mention for the work he’s done.
