Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Marcelo Bielsa has delivered an update on the fitness of some of his Leeds players.

Leeds United have been suffering from an unprecedented injury crisis this season. They’ve had key players out throughout this campaign, and those issues are yet to be alleviated.

However, luckily for the Whites, two of their main men will be back at the beginning of March.

Indeed, according to Bielsa, both Liam Cooper and Kalvin Philips will be back at the beginning of next month.

What’s Bielsa said?

The Argentine gave an update on the pair.

“The four players we still don’t count on are Firpo, who should be available this weekend because his injury involved his tendon, we may be cautious with his return, Cooper, Phillips, who both should be recovered by the beginning of March. Bamford has an injury we cannot predict when he will return,” Bielsa said.

Important

It’s absolutely vital that Cooper and Phillips get back into this side, and while they still face a few weeks on the sidelines, it’s great to hear that they’ll be available for the run-in.

Leeds are in danger of slipping into what could be a very competitive relegation battle, and if they are to be sucked in, they’ll need their best players available to get them back out.

Cooper is the club captain, while Phillips is an England international so their returns will act as a massive boost for Leeds.
