Some Leeds United fans are far from happy with Gareth Southgate after he addressed leaving Luke Ayling out of the England squad.
It had been reported before the squad was announced that Ayling was being considered for a call-up, but at 2PM on Thursday, his name was nowhere to be seen on the teamsheet.
Southgate did name Ayling as one of the players who were unfortunate to miss out, saying:
“We’ve got others playing well in that position, Cash at Aston Villa, Ayling at Leeds. Two very good right-backs in the U21s.”
While it’s good to hear that Ayling was in the manager’s thoughts, the Leeds United fanbase were still bitter about the fact the right-back wasn’t picked.
Supporters were far from happy with Southgate even after his comments about Ayling being in his thoughts.
It’s clear to see what United fans think, and they clearly believe that Ayling should have been in the England squad, especially with Kieran Trippier being chosen in his place.
Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying on social media…
