Aston Villa want a new centre-back, so perhaps a player Steve Bruce knows very well should be on his radar.
Hull City’s Michael Dawson
A report in The Sun on Sunday (print edition; June 11th 2017; pg. 59) has suggested that Hull City defender Michael Dawson could be available for just £2 million this summer with Burnley ready to hand the former Tottenham man the chance to stay in the Premier League following the Tigers’ relegation.
But for that asking price, it could certainly be argued that Aston Villa should try their luck as they look to add to their options at the heart of their defence.

The Birmingham Mail reported last month that Steve Bruce wanted to bring in another centre-back this summer, so it would hardly be a surprise if the interest in Dawson grabbed his attention.
It was Bruce who brought the 33-year-old to Hull back in 2014, and together they were part of the side that clinched promotion out of the Championship in 2016.

If Dawson was interested in linking up with Bruce again, a potential deal would arguably be a huge bargain for Villa at just £2 million, and would surely leave the Villans with more than enough left in the transfer funds to go out and strengthen other areas of the squad that arguably need more attention.
His leadership and consistency would surely help Bruce’s men bounce back from an unspectacular season this past year and put themselves potentially in the promotion mix this time around.
