Aston Villa are weighing up the potential appointment of Andrea Stramaccioni to replace Steve Bruce next term.

Aston Villa agonisingly lost their play-off final against Fulham last weekend, consigning them to their third consecutive season in the Championship, and now the club are considering appointing Andrea Stramaccioni to replace Steve Bruce, according to reports from Tuttomercato Web.
The 42-year-old was most recently in charge of Sparta Prague, but he has also had stints with Italian giants Inter Milan and Udinese, as well as Panathinaikos.
At Inter the Italian’s win ratio was close to 50% but he was shown the door after falling short of Europa League qualification, and his following appointments with the previously mentioned clubs were underwhelming at best.

Villa seem intent on replacing the former Manchester United defender though, with Brenford’s Dean Smith also being touted as a potential successor.
The decision to dismiss a manager that has acquired such a thorough understanding of the league and the opposition teams in it would be a huge risk and could easily end in disaster, not to mention the relationship built with the current crop of Villa players.
Another concern is Stramaccioni somewhat volatile nature, having admitted to coming to blows with Inter legend Antonio Cassano over a changing room disagreement, as reported by Football Italia.

Perhaps Villa should take their time to consider their options and not act so soon after their final defeat. The club are so close to promotion and fixing what is not broken may well do more harm than good.
