If Aston Villa return to the Premier League, should they consider bringing back Scott Sinclair from Celtic?
Following their comeback from going 1-0 and then 2-1 down last weekend to beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-2, Aston Villa are flying high in the Championship.
Eight wins, one draw and just one defeat from their last ten league outings sees the Villans third in the table and four points off Cardiff City and the automatic promotion spots.
There is every chance they could return to the Premier League this season and if they do, should they consider bringing back a player who was part of their squad when they were relegated from the English top flight in 2016?
That man is Scott Sinclair, who joined Villa permanently from Manchester City in the summer of 2015 on the back of a successful six-month loan spell and played 45 times for them in all competitions, scoring nine goals.
When the Birmingham club went down Sinclair made the move to Celtic and was instrumental in the Bhoys winning the treble of Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and League Cup last season, scoring 25 times in 50 appearances.
This term has not been quite so prolific although the 28-year-old does still have 17 goals in 43 games and could well bolster Steve Bruce’s attacking midfield – which has been crucial this campaign but is made up of two loanees in Josh Onomah and Robert Snodgrass, while top-scorer Albert Adomah turns 31 in December.
Sinclair may not be the most popular choice at Villa Park considering what happened last time the winger was at the club, but perhaps it could be the time to redeem himself on the back of two successful years in Glasgow.
