Sunderland loanee Lewis Grabban has been linked with a move during the January transfer window, so should Aston Villa make a bid?

With Steve Bruce recently confirming – in comments reported by the Daily Mail – that Jonathan Kodjia is set to be sidelined with injury for a while, it would be no surprise if Aston Villa’s priority during the January transfer window was trying to sign a new striker.
The Villans are in a brilliant position in the Championship right now, but enjoying a successful window could be crucial to their hopes of making sure that they end the campaign in the promotion picture.

According to TEAMtalk, both Wolves and Fulham are interested in pursuing a permanent deal for Sunderland loanee Lewis Grabban, who Bournemouth can recall from his loan spell if they wish to sell him permanently.

Based on Grabban’s form this season, Villa should arguably not allow the 29-year-old to move elsewhere without joining the race and making a bid of their own as he could be an excellent addition to the squad depending on the fee that he may be available for.
Despite playing for a side currently sat in the bottom three in the second tier, Grabban has already scored 10 league goals for the Black Cats, so it is no surprise that a number of sides are interested in signing him in the winter window.
He may not be an ideal long-term answer for the Villans if they decided to enter the race, but with Kodjia out for a while, Bruce surely needs someone to come in and hit the ground running, and Grabban may be the best candidate to do that.
And if he can fire the side to promotion, then Villa will surely reflect that signing him and paying what may have appeared to be over the odds proved to be an absolute masterstroke.
