A recent report in the Birmingham Mail has suggested that Italian giants Napoli are interested in a summer deal for Aston Villa full-back, Jordan Amavi.
The French defender, who has featured regularly this season, is reportedly on Napoli’s shortlist of players to replace outgoing left-back Faouzi Ghoulam.
With Neil Taylor now at the club, after joining the Villans from Swansea City in the summer, has Steve Bruce already prepared for the possibly inevitable exit of Amavi? The French defender was the subject of major interest from China in January, with Aston Villa rejected a £25 million bid, according to The Telegraph.

So should Aston Villa cash in on the French left-back if a similar big offer comes in? Surely if a club of Napoli’s stature attempts to sign the defender, with the same sort of fee the club rejected in January, then it would be difficult to say no to?
However, it is to be admired at just how devoted Aston Villa’s new hierarchy are to keeping hold of big name players. In the past, Aston Villa became something of a selling club, letting talent like Gareth Barry, Ashley Young, James Milner and Fabian Delph all leave under Randy Lerner’s ownership.
Now, the times are changing, and Villa fans are perhaps less worried about the possibility of losing their best players now after the arrival of Dr Tony Xia. With promotion the aim next season, it will be interesting to see how Aston Villa perform in the market this summer.
