Should Arsenal offer Ozil back to Real Madrid in exchange for this 25-year-old superstar?

After another anonymous display from Mesut Ozil, Arsenal should consider swapping him with one of Real Madrid’s superstars.

There is no doubting Mesut Ozil’s incredible ability.

The Gunners star is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world, with a vision and touch that can be matched by few in the game.

The problem for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal, is that as soon as any kind of physicality or pressure is exerted upon the German, he seems to go missing.

He rarely turns up for big away fixtures, and his influence on the games against Arsenal’s title rivals seems to have diminished over the course of his spell in north London.

Even the most fanatical Arsenal fan would be hard pushed to cite an away game against a top-four side where the so-called ‘king of the assist’ has been dominant.

Should Wenger consider offering Ozil to Real Madrid and attempt to bring talented Colombian James Rodriguez in the opposite direction?

The 28-year-old German’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2018, and now would seem like the perfect time to negotiate a deal with Madrid.

In doing so, they would not only avoid losing him for free in 18 months time, but also replace him with a world-class talent in one fell swoop.

The former Porto and Monaco man can play anywhere along the frontline, and although he doesn’t possess Ozil’s ability to pick out a killer pass, he is far more direct in his play, more mobile and has a greater work ethic than the German.

Rodriguez is also three years younger than Ozil, and arguably has a stronger winning mentality.

He has made 94 appearances for Los Blancos during his time at the Bernabeu, and has scored 27 goals for his club.

Are Gunners fans finally growing tired of Ozil’s perceived lack of commitment to the cause?

Whilst there are many Arsenal fans who still hold their number 11 in high esteem, if his exit led to the arrival of Rodriguez, there would surely not be too many unhappy people amongst the Emirates fanbase.
