The Leeds United winger has flattered to deceive for much of the campaign.

Ezgjan Alioski of Leeds celebrates after scoring the equaliser to make it one all during the Sky Bet Championship match between Brentford and Leeds United at Griffin Park on November 4,...

It is fair to say that Leeds United fans have not been overly impressed by Ezgjan Alioski’s performances this season, with his consolation strike against Brentford doing little to paper over the cracks.

In truth, the Macedonian has not had a decent match since the first international break of the campaign and his fine showing against Nottingham Forest is a distant memory. So what chance a change of approach from Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen in a bid to get his side firing again?

After all, no goals or assists in the eight games that he played a part in prior to Saturday’s clash is poor to say the least, especially when you consider his return of 17 goals and 14 assists for Lugano last season.

Too often in the current campaign Leeds have failed to utilise Stuart Dallas effectively, and the Northern Ireland international deserves a run of starts on the left flank, with Alioski consigned ton the bench.

That would give Dallas the chance to prove his worth in his natural position while allowing Alioski to potentially come on against tired defences and turn some of those late setbacks into last-gasp victories.

Something needs to change at Elland Road, with Leeds slipping down the table at an alarming rate, and showing Alioski is not too big to be dropped could in turn force him to up his own game.

He certainly has it in him, but on current evidence he does not deserve to start.
