Wolverhampton Wanderers are 10 points clear of Aston Villa in the Championship table.
Wolves legend Steve Bull took a back-handed swipe at Aston Villa, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star, suggesting that Steve Bruce’s side are incapable of producing the goods week-in, week-out.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men currently sit comfortably at the top of the Championship table, three points clear of second placed Cardiff City, and a further seven ahead of the Villans.
Tensions between the two clubs have been running high of late, what with some of the accusations being made regarding Jorge Mendes’ involvement at Molineux.
Villa were magnificent against Wolves on Saturday, running out as comfortable 4-1 winners, but they stumbled at home to Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night, losing 3-1 to Ian Holloway’s struggling side.
Bull, who scored 306 goals for Wolves, highlighted Villa’s struggles in midweek as a huge difference between them and Nuno’s side, when writing his regular column for the Express & Star:
“Without me being biased, that was the best Villa have played in four years. But you have got to do it week-in, week-out and their defeat against QPR shows they can’t do that. We can do it. We have sustained it and that’s why we are where we are.”
Next up for the Black Country outfit is a home game against Burton Albion on Saturday, whilst Villa face a trip to Bolton Wanderers, and if Bruce’s side lose further ground on Nuno’s men, their hopes for automatic promotion this season could very well be over.
