Chris Sutton has given his take on Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister being sent off against Bournemouth at Anfield in the Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.

The former Chelsea striker has said on BBC Sport that Alexis Mac Allister should not have been dismissed during Liverpool’s Premier League match against Bournemouth at Anfield.

Liverpool won the match 3-1.

However, the Reds suffered a scare in the opening minutes of the second half when they went down to 10 men.

Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, was sent off.

Verdict on Alexis Mac Allister dismissal for Liverpool vs Bournemouth

The Argentina international midfielder, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup, was adjudged to have made a high tackle on Ryan Christie.

BBC Sport pundit Sutton does not think that Mac Allister should have been sent off.

Sutton said: “An important three points for Liverpool. They took a while to get going, but they showed real urgency.

“I thought the McAllister sending off was a shocking decision.

“They’ve had to work hard for this.”

And, as you can see below, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker is of the same opinion.

It was a controversial decision, but Liverpool will be pleased that the incident did not affect the final result in the end.

Liverpool were the better team and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.

The Reds could win the Premier League title if they keep up this form and continue to win matches.
