Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jürgen Klopp was asked about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United.
What’s the story?
Well, speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with FC Porto on Wednesday evening, Klopp was asked about Solskjaer’s sacking.
In typically blunt fashion, the German said: “What do I have to do with that? I am not prepared for that question, I didn’t think about them for a second. Sorry.”
Seeing as Liverpool and Manchester United are bitter rivals, we’re sure the Anfield faithful loved Klopp’s answer.
The supporters below certainly seemed to enjoy it, with one describing the 54-year-old’s response as ‘legendary’ – another said it was a ‘class’ reply.
It may seem rude to some, but it’s possible that Klopp was just getting Solskjaer back for a similar comment made in 2014.
When managing Cardiff, the Norwegian was asked about Liverpool’s title chances under Brendan Rodgers, to which he said he “couldn’t care less”.
The phrase ‘swings and roundabouts’ has rarely been more appropriate.
Should Liverpool be worried about Manchester United?
It’s easy to laugh and joke about Manchester United’s situation now, but depending on who they hire as Solskjaer’s replacement, they could soon be a force.
It mustn’t be forgotten that the Red Devils have players like Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Marcus Rashford and Raphael Varane.
There is a world class core of players at Old Trafford, but the group has been utterly mismanaged by coaching that was not up to standard.
With a serious manager in charge, Manchester United could quite easily enjoy a similar upturn in fortunes to Chelsea.
The Blues parted ways with Frank Lampard and hired a fantastic tactician in Thomas Tuchel, who is well placed to add the Premier League title to his Champions League success last season.
