Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has said that he is “shocked” that Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are about to sign Cole Palmer from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports that he cannot believe that Chelsea are about to bring in Cole Palmer from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
The former Arsenal star has said that Palmer, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, is a good player.
The Times have reported that Chelsea have agreed a deal with City for the 21-year-old.

The Blues will reportedly pay the Citizens an initial transfer fee of £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the England Under-21 international.
Merson said about Palmer: “I think he is a good player. I thought after the Community Shield, I thought he would get a little bit more time at Man City, the way he came on and scored the goal.
“Yeah, a bit shocked, if I am being honest, a bit shocked, but good signing, good player. He has got a goal about him.”
Manchester City’s Cole Palmer a good signing for Chelsea
We believe that Manchester City attacker Cole Palmer would be a good signing for Chelsea, not just for now, but for years to come as well.
Palmer is only 21 now and is able to play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
The youngster is a creative player and is still developing and progressing as a player.
We know from his time as the Tottenham Hotspur head coach that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is a very good manager who knows how to improve young players.
Under Pochettino at Chelsea, Palmer could get better and add facets to his game.
Palmer has made 19 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The 21-year-old has provided one assist in those games.
