It was another dismal showing at Euro 2020 for Tottenham Hotspur hitman Harry Kane on Friday night.

Kane, the Premier League’s golden boot winner last season, struggled in a big way during England’s win over Croatia last weekend.

And it was more of the same for the Spurs marksman in last night’s 0-0 draw with Scotland at Wembley.

The 27-year-old cut a frustrated, isolated figure up front for the Three Lions and Gareth Southgate removed him for Marcus Rashford on 74 minutes.

Bringing off a fit Kane when you need a goal is a pretty unthinkable scenario if you’re a Tottenham fan, given how lethal the player is up top.

But it just goes to show his difficulties against the Scots on Friday, though he did have a good chance to open the scoring during the second half but fluffed his lines in a big way.

And Andros Townsend, his forrmer teammate in North London, has admitted that he was ‘shocked’ to see his pal miss like that.

He told Stadium Astro: “I think what probably shocked me the most is he’s had a chance in the second half where he’s worked it well, got on to his left foot and you’re thinking ‘right, goal!’. But he sort of scuffed it and Harry Kane doesn’t do that.”

Future

It’s no secret that Kane wants a big move away from the Lilywhites this summer, with Manchester City seeking talks to sign him.

We know this because he effectively confirmed it in an interview with Gary Neville toward the end of last season in a move which infuriated Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy over the timing.

But there is something to be said for causing a whirlwind of speculation just one month before a major international tournament.

And honestly, Kane is playing like a man with something else on his mind right now.
