Glen Johnson says he would be ‘shocked’ if Christian Pulisic left Chelsea for Manchester United, but he thinks joining Eddie Howe at Newcastle United would be ‘less of a risk’, as he told GGrecon.
With another manager in the Chelsea dugout, this time Graham Potter, there doesn’t seem to be any sign that Pulisic’s luck will change at the bridge, hence why Erik ten Hag is keen to take him on board at Old Trafford, with Arsenal and Newcastle also keen.
Given the nature of clubs interested in the USA international, it still shows, despite his stagnation in West London, he is still highly thought after.

But the rumoured clubs that are interested in the American are all sitting in European places, at this moment in time, so would Chelsea be willing to sell to a rival?
Well, former Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson thinks that will be a factor, hence why he can’t see him joining Manchester United, but he explained why donning the black and white colours is more realistic, despite the team sitting third in the table.
“I can’t imagine Chelsea would let him move to Manchester United,” said Johnson. “He could end up bouncing back and really help them out, so I suppose the only reason you’d let him out on loan is to get his value up and then sell him.
“That’s the only reason why he’d go on loan at this stage, and I’d be very shocked if he goes to Manchester United.
“If he went to Newcastle, then that would be less of a risk, because even though they’ve been performing out of their skin so far, I’m not sure if they can do that from when the Premier League returns, up until the end of the season.
“However, I’ve been wrong many times in the past but I’d be really surprised if they maintained this form between now and the end of the season.”

PULISIC NEEDS TO LEAVE
For far too long, the 24-year-old has had too many stop-start moments at the Bridge and now is the time to leave.
His stock is still high and it can even be argued that at the Qatar World Cup, he enhanced his reputation.
A young, vibrant and athletic US team reached the last-16, with Pulisic either scoring or assisting every goal his nation scored.
Now is the time to keep that going in domestic football, if he ends up warming the bench most of the time, then he will be back to square one, that’s why he needs to look for those regular starts in the transfer market.
