Oumar Niasse has turned his Everton career around to now become an influential player.

Oumar Niasse’s journey to the Everton starting lineup has been a difficult one.

As The Guardian reports, the Roberto Martinez signing was exiled by former manager Ronald Koeman last season, made to train with Everton’s Under-23s and stripped of his first-team squad number and locker.

With an inadvertent helping hand from Koeman, who failed to sign a replacement for striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer, the Senegalese forward has turned his career around at Goodison Park.

Not only is he playing regularly, but he is scoring goals which make him, statistically at least, the most influential striker in the Premier League this term.

Niasse’s four league goals this season have secured the Toffees five points, making them more valuable than the goals of any other player in the top flight.

The 27-year-old scored a double off the bench in September’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth and got the comeback against Watford started a fortnight ago.

Without Niasse’s goals, Everton would be second from bottom in the table, only two points above Crystal Palace, who the Merseyside outfit face at Selhurst Park this weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, Palace pulled the plug on a summer deadline day move for Niasse. The goal-shy Eagles must now be regretting not getting that deal over the line.
