More Barcelona fans want the club to sign Tottenham’s Kyle Walker than two key Manchester United defenders.

A poll on the website of Catalan based newspaper Mundo Deportivo has asked Barcelona fans to vote on which right-back they want the club to sign this summer and there are some surprising results.

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta is the player most Barca fans would like to come in at right-back but there is a major surprise looking elsewhere to some other Premier League based players.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Kyle Walker received more votes (4% at the time of writing) than Manchester United defenders Phil Jones and Rafael Da Silva or starting Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson.

It’s a remarkable request on the part of a small section of Barca fans considering Walker was predominantly injured over the second half of the season and won’t be going to the World Cup as a result.

In the case of Johnson and Jones, they’re competitive against Walker in plenty of areas last season while Rafael himself struggled with injury problems, which stopped him featuring in more games under the guidance of David Moyes.

It’s not a major surprise to see Zabaleta right at the top of the list because he was the best right-back in England’s top flight last season.

He made several teams of the season when performances from the past nine months were judged and will be a key part of City’s side next season as they look to defend their Premier League title.

Barca’s chances of getting any of these Premier League targets are slim but fans see Borussia Dortmund’s Lukas Piszczek and Porto’s Danilo as the main players the club should be targeting.
