Incoming Arsenal signing Shkrodan Mustafi has told Sky Sports that a conversation with Mesut Ozil quickly convinced him to make the move to the Emirates.

The defender is set to sign for Arsene Wenger’s side after they finally agreed a whopping £35m deal with his current club Valencia earlier this week, as reported by The Guardian.

He has been targeted to add some much needed quality to their defence after injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista has forced the Gunners to use youngster Rob Holding in the centre of defence.

A move to the Emirates will represent a big move for him but he says what his Germany teammate told him about the club quickly convinced him to make the move.

“I have spoken with Mesut, he told me everything. It was all very positive and I was quickly convinced,” he told Sky Sports.

It will now be interesting to see what the Arsenal defence will look like when manager Arsene Wenger has all of his team fully fit.

Mustafi will surely be a first team regular given the money they have paid for him, although Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker will both feel they are deserving of a place also.

It leaves Wenger with a big decision to make in future, although that is hardly a bad thing given how they have struggled for defenders in recent years.
