Quoted by FourFourTwo, new Arsenal signing Shkodran Mustafi says he is happy with how the fans welcomed him on his debut.
The German defender was handed an immediate starting place in the team by Arsene Wenger for Saturday’s clash with Southampton at the Emirates.
He put in an impressive performance too, limiting the Saints to just one goal as his side secured all three points courtesy of a late penalty from Santi Cazorla.

He will have been delighted to start life with the Gunners with a victory, and he says he is pleased with how the fans have received him.
“I’m happy for the three points, first of all,” FourFourTwo quotes him saying
“But I’m also happy with how the supporters have received me here and how the team have made me feel part of it.”

Mustafi will now be hoping to build on this first display and prove the Gunners were right to spend big on him this summer.
He looked composed against the Saints and is only likely to improve once he becomes more accustomed to the style of the Premier League.
If he can perform like he did on his debut on a regular basis, there will not be many questioning his asking price come the end of the campaign.
