Arsenal loanee Dan Ballard put in another impressive display on Wednesday night as Millwall recorded a 1-0 win against Bristol City in the Championship.
After winning over a number of fans at Blackpool last season, where he helped the club earn promotion to England’s second-tier, Ballard is now showcasing his hard-hitting talents at the Den.
Gary Rowett’s side climbed up to 14th in the Championship table and secured their first win in the league since the end of August.
And both Millwall and Arsenal fans loved what Ballard produced out on the pitch.
There are many Hale-End academy products that have received glowing reviews during these past few years.
Some have been under the spotlight more than others and Ballard does seem to be going under the radar.
Whilst Mikel Arteta brought in Ben White this summer, and Gabriel in 2020, he has always needed depth and quality in that defensive department.
It does seem as though the above duo are his first-choice centre-backs, but who comes next, well it’s up for debate.
Given how Ballard is performing, not just during this campaign, but last season also.
Then there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be part of Arteta’s pre-season plans next summer because it’s not like Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and Pablo Mari are wowing the Emirates crowd.
It also needs to be remembered that these loan spells have also earned him international recognition with Northern Ireland.
