The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has been tipped to leave the club this summer.

For those who keep a close eye on Tottenham Hotspur’s next generation, a report from Football.London claiming Shilow Tracey is heading for the exit this summer will make for interesting reading.

The youngster arrived at Spurs from non-league Ebbsfleet United with a big reputation back in January 2016 and, while not all players follow the same path, there were murmurings he could ultimately join Dele Alli into the first-team.

Sky Sports suggested as such, claiming Tottenham had beaten a number of other clubs to his signature and that they hoped he was a first-team star in the making.

While Alli fired MK Dons to promotion Tracey was only making tentative steps in Ebbsfleet’s first-team, and his time with Tottenham’s second string has seen him play all over the field.

From right-back to midfield to striker, Tracey’s plundering style and desire to make a go of it wherever he is asked to play is admirable, yet he is no longer the 17-year-old sensation he was when he arrived at Tottenham.

Tracey recently turned 20 but a chance with Spurs’ senior side still seems some way off, and perhaps that is the reason why he could be moving on this summer.

While the likes of Harry Winks and Kyle Walker-Peters have long since moved beyond under-23 football, Tracey is somewhat stuck.

He has the talent to succeed elsewhere, but the excitement and hyperbolic headlines that accompanied his arrival are long forgotten.

When he first signed for Tottenham, Ebbsfleet’s vice-chairman Peter Varney told their official website that it “was a fantastic opportunity for Shilow”.

Unfortunately, if the reports are true, it could be over before it really began.
