The Tottenham Hotspur youngster has impressed for the second string this summer.
Back in January 2016, Tottenham Hotspur signed Shilow Tracey from non-league Ebbsfleet United. But unlike Dele Alli, the then-17-year-old was sent the academy route, tasked with developing his game for the under-18s and the under-23s with the intention of one day making his first-team bow.
18 months on Tracey is yet to make his senior debut for Tottenham and he was not included on the list of talented youngsters that accompanied the more familiar faces on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
However, the versatile midfielder has done his best to impress over the last few weeks and it seems he is finding the consistency required to ultimately make a name for himself in North London.
Shayon Harrison’s eight-goal haul for Tottenham’s under-23s this summer has understandably stole the headlines.
However his fellow teenager Tracey has also impressed and his goal in the final of European Under-21 Tournament in France against Standard Liege showed he is the player for the big occasion.
Tracey’s bombarding, no-nonsense style means he is always going to have his critics, yet he has shown this summer that he has settled well in North London and in time he could get the chance he so craves.
Tottenham have a number of exciting young players waiting patiently for their chance and Tracey has used this summer to stake his claim. For now that is all he can do.
