West Bromwich Albion have been linked with the Liverpool winger, and he would arguably be an incredibly exciting signing.

Sheyi Ojo of Liverpool runs during a pre-season friendly match between Bury and Liverpool at Gigg Lane on July 14, 2018 in Bury, England.

According to a recent report from the Guardian (26/07; page 41), West Brom are interested in signing Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo this summer despite the Reds wanting £15 million before they sell the youngster.

It is not exactly clear whether Darren Moore is eyeing a permanent or loan move for the 21-year-old, but it would perhaps be a surprise if the Baggies were willing to spend the eight-figure fee on Ojo, especially as they are now preparing for a season in the Championship.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror reported last month that Newcastle United wide-man Rolando Aarons is also on West Brom’s radar this summer. With James McClean now out of The Hawthorns door, it would make sense for Moore to step up his efforts to sign a new winger to make sure that the Baggies offer a significant threat down the flanks.

And if the West Brom boss has to decide whether to pursue a move for Ojo or Aarons, Moore’s choice should arguably be simple.

Aarons appears to have lost his way in recent times. A loan spell to Italy during the second-half of last season would have done little to turn Rafa Benitez’s head and his form in the early stages of pre-season has hardly provided reason for encouragement.

Meanwhile, Ojo boasts a lot more experience at Championship level and has come away with a promising record. How highly Liverpool rate him is reflected in their asking price – it would appear that Jurgen Klopp would have few qualms about potentially keeping him on the books beyond this summer.

And if West Brom can agree a loan deal, or negotiate a lower price perhaps, then it could certainly be argued that a deal for Ojo could prove a masterstroke, whereas a move for Aarons would have to be considered a gamble.
